"Regarding technology, we are living a moment of great changes which are developing as fast as never before. And the most important change may be that operative systems -today's milestones- will become commodities, and the fact of using one or the other will have no importance. Another important change is that industry will understand clearly that manual programming is no longer reasonable. What is the reason why an excellent tool like Java has had a low penetration in the market during the last five years ? Because nobody wants to learn a new language; let alone such a low level language. This is one of the key points. Another is that, at least in developed countries, it is not possible to obtain new Cobol and RPG developers. Why ? Because nobody wants to learn old languages. Then, we think that we are very close to the moment when the knowledge based development paradigm will prevail worldwide. Let us take advantage of this", stated Breogán Gonda, ARTech's President, at the Opening Session of the XII GeneXus International Meeting.
This year we are pleased to have Mr. Michael Culver, Manager of Microsoft Corp. in the .NET Program and the Visual Studio team. He introduced the .NET platform and he talked about the opportunities it represents for solutions developers.
As "strategic partners", ARTech and Microsoft have been walking "together" and "in the right direction" for quite a long time, said Ambrose Ramsahai, General Manager of Microsoft Uruguay. He remembered that ARTech has been working for a number of months in the development of solutions for the .NET platform. Vision, platform and tools are already revolutionizing the business world.
It is very important for us to take part in an event of this nature and share with ARTech and its business partners this 'GeneXus Community' Meeting. Besides, this is a very good opportunity to ratify our compromise with the Uruguayan technological sector, with the innovative companies, with those going for productivity and, particularly, with ARTech", stated Ramsahai.
In addition of the outstanding technical conferences, this Meeting is very important to reinforce the synergy among GeneXus users, and particularly among the software houses, since there is a very important software industry based in GeneXus which gives rise to a genuine international knowledge industry.
