It was 1989, and I had been invited by Corporación Informática (of the engineer Fernando Lazcano) to a demo on GeneXus. That day I found out that my classmate at the Engineering school, Gustavo Proto, was giving the presentation on this innovative tool.
Needless to say, I adopted the tool. It solved some important problems that I had back then and, in addition, the people behind GeneXus had been my classmates at the Engineering school; not only Gustavo, but also Karina Santo and Nicolás Jodal. Twenty years went by and since then, it has been unthinkable for me to design and program applications without GeneXus.
Personally, it was a unique experience. I immediately developed a sense of belonging to that Community, which had unlimited growth potential. I feel very close to GeneXus due to its constant evolution and its ability to adapt to the changes taking place in the world of software development, as it happened before with Windows and now with the Web and agile methodologies.
Whenever I can, I go to the GeneXus Meetings and listen to many presentations that in my opinion are interesting and well-presented, such as those given by José Lamas, for example. In addition, the Meetings are a good opportunity to get up to date and learn about the upgrades that will be included in upcoming versions of GeneXus.
I will attend the XX GeneXus Meeting to celebrate with the Community these two decades that bring us together and, as always, to be surprised by a team of forward-thinking people who solve problems with elegance to help us generate applications of increasingly better quality.
